Top Republican lawmakers are considering placing Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) on the House Intelligence Committee as the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry continues, according to The Hill.
Rep. Jordan is the ranking member on the House Oversight Committee of which, Rep. Meadows is a member. Both lawmakers are strong allies of President Donald Trump and will now likely play a key role in the impeachment probe.
The Democrats have conducted witness question behind closed doors however, a resolution passed last week will allow the House Intelligence Committee to publicly question witnesses. Alternatively, members of the House Oversight and Foreign Affairs Committees will be excluded from that process.
